More Information on 1955 Chris Craft Cobra "007"

At the same time that he was overseeing the build of Hawaii Kai, and then during its racing trials before the September 1955 race, Edgar flitted around Lake Tahoe in his second major boat acquisition of that year, a brand new 21 foot Chis Craft Cobra that he named 007.
Focused on racing as he was at the time and with his racing crew in California, Edgar made many changes to 007 to improve her racing performance including installing two McCullough superchargers of the type he was then using on Kaiser Manhattan automobiles at Kaiser Motors (where he was President at the time) to the Chrysler Hemi engine in the boat. Edgar had become infatuated with the success the Chrysler Hemi engine was enjoying in automotive racing events and reasoned the engine would be similarly successful in boat racing. His father’s “H-Class” hydroplane Restless had used this engine combination successfully in placing third in the Lake Championship races in 1953. 007 later went on to race in the annual Tahoe Yacht Club Regattas for several years.
